Executive Director

Reports to: Clerk, Pendle Hill Board
OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION
The executive director reports to and works in partnership with the Pendle Hill Board in developing strategic direction for the organization in furthering its mission, goals and objectives. This professional supervises the human and manages the fiscal resources of the organization and provides leadership for the achievement of strategic results.
POSITION SUMMARY
The executive director provides strategic leadership, which includes all aspects of planning, evaluation, fund raising, and financial management, to advance Pendle Hill as a center for study and contemplation. This professional advances the values, mission and vision of Pendle Hill and supports organizational priorities through consistent implementation of programs and services in support of achieving the goals of Pendle Hill as delineated in the strategic plan. The executive director provides primary staff support to the Pendle Hill Board and supervises all members of the senior management team.
In addition, the executive director works to strengthen internal management and team building and to reinforce a culture of consultation and accountability.
The executive director is expected to live on the Pendle Hill campus in Wallingford, Pennsylvania.
Dean of Studies
Reports to: Executive Director
General Summary:
The Dean of Studies directs the education programs at Pendle Hill. This key leadership role includes ensuring that strategic programmatic goals are met, and demonstrating a working commitment to the programs through teaching, facilitation, planning, recruitment, outreach, and implementation. Programs currently include the Resident Program, the Young Adult Program, and the year-round program of weekend workshops, short courses, and lectures (together called STEP). The person in this position serves as a member of the Pendle Hill Administrative Team and is responsible for annual budgets totaling approximately $500,000.
The Dean supervises the education staff, which may include: support staff, resident teachers, limited-term teachers, interns, and Friends in Residence (volunteers). Students may seek the Dean’s attention for matters requiring approval or an administrator’s counsel.
Maintenance and Grounds Intern
Reports to: Facilities Manager and Grounds Manager
Supervises: N/A
The Maintenance and Grounds Intern assists in providing needed repairs to buildings and grounds, planning, and doing routine maintenance, with an eye toward aesthetics and functionality for Pendle Hill visitors. This will include emergency maintenance and preventive maintenance. This person alerts the Facilities Manager or Grounds Manager, as appropriate, about observed need for repairs and the possible urgency of them. The Maintenance and Grounds Intern participates in the rotation of emergency on-call cell phone responsibilities with the rest of the team.
An intern is a full time, temporary staff member with a one- or two-year commitment, who works in a team with the Pendle Hill maintenance and grounds teams, on a 23-acre, 19-building campus. This is an opportunity to develop maintenance skill; gain work experience in many aspects of maintenance and grounds; do meaningful, service-oriented work; and experience living in a Spirit-led educational community. In addition, the intern has the opportunity to participate in one Pendle Hill education course per term. Throughout the year, courses are offered in Quakerism, discernment, the Bible, arts, spirituality, peace and social action, and body awareness, to name a few.
